Jim Beam Ramps up Production Using Renewable Energy

Bourbon isn’t going anywhere too soon. In fact one major distiller has plans to meet the demand while saving the environment.

It is no secret that bourbon is enjoyed by millions of people regardless of race, gender and nationality. In fact America’s Native Spirit,bourbon, is sold all over the world. Global demand is rising steadily in Europe and Asia.

With that fact, we also realize another, increased green house emissions are inevitable. That is unless we do something about it.

The popular distiller, Jim Beam, has plans to ramp up Bourbon production while investing $400 million into renewable energy.

Their aim–to cut back on green house emissions and water usage. To to this, the are focusing their efforts on producing renewable natural gas. This project is expected to wrap up in 2024. By 2030, they aim to plant 500,000 trees annually. This is substantially more trees than are used in creating barrels!

Kentucky is home to 95% of bourbon production. Jim Beam is owned by Suntory, as Japanese based company which also produces Maker’s Mark, Basil Hayden, Knob Creek. They have seen sales increase by 13%. Expansion is aimed at producing Jim Beam white and black label bourbons. The distillery expects to increase its capacity by 50%. As they work harder to meet the demand, they aim to make a positive contribution to the environment as well.
